It's Curtoon Time TV Show
Welcome to the official "It's Curtoon Time" Television Show web site! My name is Curt Visca and I like to draw CURTOONS®. You might call them cartoons, but because my name is Curt, I changed the "a" in "cartoon" to a "u" and created curtoons.
I like to think of curtoons as being simple and silly. Curtoons have simple dots, circles, straight lines, curved lines, and angle lines that combine into creative curtoons. Inspired by some of the great cartoonists like Leigh Rubes ("R ubes") and Kevin Fagan ("Drabble"), I'm always doodling and drawing.
I teach numerous curtooning classes to children, as well as adults. As a motivational speaker and curtoonist, I enjoy presenting my talents to various community organizations, such as colleges, high schools, school districts, PTAs, libraries, and city-sponsored events.
My single panel cartoon strip, called "Curtoons with Curt Visca," is also published in Southern California newspapers and can be seen on the web. I was coined "America's #1 Motivational Curtoonist" years ago, while still finding time to produce and star in my hit television show, "It's Curtoon Time." This popular show has won a Telly Award and three Lights, Camera, Action Awards in Los Angeles for children's programing.
I was also recently honored with the "Communications and Leadership Award" through Toastmasters. Past recipients have been Tommy Lasorda and Olympic gold medalists. I have been featured in numerous magazines and newspapers, including the Los Angeles Times and Orange County Register. I have been on Nickelodeon's "Double Dare" as Sammy Surf from "It's Curtoon Time," worked with the "Blue's Clues" Crew for a day while they were on a national tour in California, assisted with characters from "It's itsy bitsy Time" on the Fox Family Channel while they were in California, and helped with the Discovery Kids Channel during their national tour. I also did artwork for Disneyland in high school and college for many years and danced on Dick Clark's "American Bandstand" many years ago.
Quotes About Curt and Curtooning
What do artists, educators, and fans say about Curtooning?
"Curt Visca has made cartooning fun and simple. What a terrific approach to art and creativity. If I only had Curt as an art teacher when I was learning how to cartoon, it probably wouldn't have taken me so long to become syndicated."
Leigh Rubin - "Rubes" Syndicated Cartoonist
"Curt Visca is my children's favorite cartoonist. I guess they like me too, but they seem to relate to Curt a lot more. I'm not surprised - Curt has a marvelous way of connecting with kids. They love his style, which is simple and silly, and his sense of humor, which is whimsical and wonderful. Kids are always amazed at how Curt can turn things like a bag of French fries or a salad fork into cartoon characters. Come to think of it, so am I! Aspiring cartoonists will love learning how to curtoon."
Kevin Fagan - "Drabble" Syndicated Cartoonist
"Curt Visca's work in cartooning has been a significant contribution to the field of child development. Children engaged in "curtooning" extend their creative and artistic abilities in unique and highly motivating ways. Children transfer their sense of accomplishment gained from successful "curtooning" to achieve more in basic skills (especially reading, writing, math and science). Curt's work has provided all students, including gifted and talented, with a tremendous vehicle to express their creative and higher level thinking skills."
Richard Thome - School Superintendent
"Your show is great for children. Hate to admit it, but I watch it."
Rose Marie Sterling, Actress
"We love your show."
Leslie Brittle, Parent
"I teach a class of developmentally delayed 13-15 year olds. My students enjoy your show. It's motivating."
Barbara Schulman, Teacher
"You're my favorite artist! Keep up the good work! I've never missed a show yet. All my friends in my classroom know about your show."
Michelle Campagna, 6th Grade Student
"As adults we always reflect back on our childhood and remember those individuals who inspired us the most. Certainly Curt Visca will be one of those people held in high esteem in my sons mind. Thank you for your wonderful program, "It's Curtoon Time." We all watch you! You put my 7 year-old's curtoon on last week and it made us all so proud. He was like a movie star, prancing all over the house. You are so positive and upbeat for the kids! If they have had a crummy day at school, your program makes them feel successful. A big hug from me to you for being special."
Gloria Stephens, Parent
"My daughter loves to draw, and loves your show. I love it to because with it's late afternoon time slot, it helps me put dinner on the table. Bet you didn't know you were doubling as a baby-sitter. Keep up the good work."
MaryAnne Slotnick, Parent
"We just want to thank you for providing entertaining education. Our 5 year old loves your show and asks when the funny cartoon time guy comes on."
Thomas and Kim Porter, Parents
"I'm having fun with your curtoons. They are cute, fun, and easy. I'm having fun amusing my grandchildren with curtoons. Do you have any books I can purchase?"
